Education:

  • J.D., Harvard Law School, 1987

Immediately after graduation from law school, Professor Mays worked in the Public Finance area of the international law firm of Squires Sanders & Dempsey. She left Squires to clerk for the Chief Justice of the Ohio State Supreme Court, The Honorable Thomas J. Moyer, and then started her law teaching career at Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. While there, Professor Mays taught Business Associations, Local Government Law, Property Land Use Controls, and Women and the Law. She also served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Her community service included President of the Robert B. Elliott Law Society, Vice-Chair of the Ohio Ethics Commission, and member of the Minority Clerkship Committee of the Columbus Bar Association.

 

Professor Mays is Law Professor and Dean Emeritus of Arizona Summit Law School where she taught Business Associations, Property Law and Wills, Trusts and Estates. At Arizona Summit Professor Mays significantly increased both student and faculty diversity, and forged community partnerships with employers and agencies to provide volunteer, employment, and pro bono opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. She was named to the Top Minority Attorneys List, Most Influential Women of Arizona, and received awards for excellence in education from the Positively Powerful Women, NAACP and Links, Inc.

 

She eagerly looks forward to teaching Contracts, UCC-Sales, Legal Drafting and Real Estate Transactions at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law.
