Professor Kotab is a senior lecturer at the Charles University in the Department of Financial Law and Financial Science where he teaches Financial Law, Taxation, International Taxation, and Banking. His other areas of interest include Monetary Law, Foreign Exchange Law, Capital Markets and Cross-Border Investments.
He is the author or co-author of more than a hundred articles, books and other publications including multiple university textbooks of Czech Financial Law, guidebooks Doing Business in The Czech Republic (Juris Publishing, Inc., New York 1999) and Business Transactions in Eastern Europe (Matthew Bender & Company, Inc., New York and EBRD, London 1999), and a Czech national chapter in Financial Services Regulation in Europe (Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2008).
In addition to pursuing his academic career, Professor Kotab is a practicing attorney in the international law firm Dentons where he served as the Prague office managing partner for more than 10 years. Formerly the Chairman of the Appellate Commission of the Czech Securities Commission, he is now the Chairman of an Appellate Senate of the Czech National Bank and a member of the Appellate Commission of the Czech Bar. He is a member of the Czech Bar and the Slovak Bar as well as the International Bar Association and the International Fiscal Association.
