I am currently a Broward County Judge. I was elected in 2010. I preside over a Criminal Trial
Division. In addition to doing County Criminal Trials, I also preside over Circuit Criminal Trials
and Circuit Civil Trials. Prior to being elected, I was an Assistant Public Defender for 17 years
and an Assistant State Attorney for 12 years. I tried 200 Jury Trials to Verdict including Murder
1. I have taken hundreds of fact witness and expert witness depositions. I teach Trial Advocacy
at NSU Sheppard Broad Law Center. I also am a faculty member and Program Director for The
National Institute of Trial Advocacy. I train lawyers in trial skills, motion practice, expert &
basic deposition skills and fact investigation. I also was a private consultant in a New York law
firm, teaching attorneys fact investigation, deposition taking, deposition preparation, and trial
skills. I assist with expert and lay witness deposition preparation and trial testimony. I also give
lectures on the above topics and ethics.
