Heidi Tandy is Of Counsel at the DC law firm of Price Benowitz and has spent over 20 years working on internet, social media and fandom law issues, from her first terms of service and privacy policy best practices in the 90s to recent policies and procedures for The Bump and An Archive Of Our Own. She's worked with content creators, technology builders, individual business owners, and large corporations to successfully protect our clients’ copyrights and trademarks without overstepping into the Fair Use rights of third parties. She's presented at DragonCon, Florida Supercon, South By Southwest (SXSW) and INTA's Academic Day on balancing the rights of all types of storytellers and creators, at Penn Law and Princeton on fan creativity, and before the Library of Congress to secure DMCA exemptions; she's presented at Comic Con with Orlando Jones and Misha Collins on fanworks, and has been part of the Harry Potter SDCC fandom panel since 2008. Heidi obtained her B.A. in History and Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law.
