James Lewis

Mr. Lewis has been practicing law for over 30 years, focusing his practice on criminal defense for more than 20 years. A native of Aberdeen, Maryland, Mr. Lewis relocated to Florida in 1970. As a young attorney, Mr. Lewis served as an Assistant State Attorney in Orlando. He then went on to work for the Office of the Governor, where he served as Special Prosecutor to Florida Statewide Grand Jury. Thereafter, Mr. Lewis worked with the Florida Attorney General’s Office, where he served as Assistant Statewide Prosecutor.

By 1993, Mr. Lewis went into private practice, focusing his career on criminal defense work and protecting the liberties of others. With the knowledge he had gained while working for the government, he applied it in practice and very soon became a highly sought-after criminal defense lawyer. Mr. Lewis diligently represents the interest of each client, giving each case individualized attention while zealously advocating on the client’s behalf.

Mr. Lewis is a member of the Florida Bar and The United States Supreme Court Bar. He is licensed to practice law in all state courts within the State of Florida, as well as in the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court.

He has appeared as a legal commentator on CNN, The Dr. Phil Show, The Today Show, Anderson Cooper 360, Dateline, and in People Magazine. Mr. Lewis has also appeared in the HBO Documentary, “Cocaine Cowboys Reloaded.”
