NSU Law Mentoring Suggested Activities

1. Civil Litigation Practice Group:  Includes litigation and appellate practices: in business, commercial, general civil, labor & employment, securities, workers compensation, government law, public interest law, sports and entertainment, and any other civil area not specifically listed in Groups 2, and 4 through 8 below.


2. Transactional Practice Group:  Includes transactional practice in: business, commercial, general civil, labor & employment, securities, workers compensation, government law, public interest law, sports and entertainment and any other civil area not specifically listed in Groups 1 and 4 through 8 below.


3. Criminal Practice Group:  Includes private practice defense in all criminal areas, including white collar crime, juvenile, mental health, drug court and other specialized courts, plus State Attorney’s Office and Public Defender’s Office, and mediation/pre-trial diversion involving criminal matters. Also includes appellate practices related to criminal law areas. US Attorney, State Attorney General, County Attorney and Municipal (City/Town/Village) Attorneys who practice criminal law are included in this group.


4. Health Law Group: Includes litigation and transaction practice in all legal matters concerning health law, including compliance and regulatory practice.


5. Intellectual Property Law Group: Includes litigation and transactional law practices for intellectual property including trademark, copyright, patent, and technology. Mediation and appellate practices related to these areas is included in this Group.


6. Family Law Group:  Includes all aspects of marital and family law both litigation and transactional, and collaborative law. For example: pre-and-post-nuptial agreements, dissolution proceedings, paternity, child support, post-dissolution, parental relocation, domestic violence, termination of parental rights, reproductive law and other legal matters relating to marital and family law. Private practice and government practice through the State of Florida, Office of Attorney General as it relates to family law is included in this Group. Mediation and appellate practices related to these areas is included in this Group.


7. International Law Group:  Includes trade law, immigration, international banking, regulatory agencies and litigation or transactional practices involving International Law matters of any kind.


8. Real Property, Probate, Trust, Estates, and Tax Law Group: Includes all aspects of these practice areas in both litigation and transaction matters. Also includes real property business transactions, commercial and residential real estate matters, Elder Law, Probate, Estate Planning, Trusts, IRS matters and anything else related to this Group. Mediation and appellate practices related to these areas is included in this Group.
